New lens!

My wonderful husband knew how badly I wanted another lens for my camera (I must admit, the lens addiction struck pretty quickly). So for Christmas he gave me a portrait lens - a 50mm 1.8 for my Canon Rebel t3i. Here's just a few photos I took out on a walk. None of them have been edited - unfortunately my trial version of Photoshop expired!

Confession: This one wasn't with the new lens. I just enjoyed it too much to not post, even though it's a little blurry
This one didn't turn out quite the way I hoped, but I loved the bokeh effect in the background.

There's still a little colour to be found.

Christmas tree bokeh.

A Stroll Through Downtown Toronto

I had a bit of time in between shifts a couple of days ago, and decided to go for a walk with my camera. Here's a few of what I came up with. Only a couple are edited - can you guess which ones?

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

We've actually had our decorations up for about 3 weeks now... Christmas lovers over here!

Here's just a couple images of decorations... and cookies! (PLEASE ignore the decorating job... I still haven't gotten myself a cookie decorating kit, oops!)

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Joyeux Noel.... Enjoy the season!

A Couple of City Views

A couple of shots from the downtown area. I figured I'd try for something a little different than all the nature pictures I've taken!

Playing with Pops of Colour

Like I said last post, I'm trying to re-learn Photoshop on my own. I played with it a few years ago in college, so it's coming back... but slowly.

Here's a few edited pictures where I was trying to enhance the colours and play around a little bit.

There's a First Time for Everything, Right?

Here goes nothing!

I've never been into the whole "blogging" thing before.... never really saw the appeal. However, I've recently taken a real interest in photography (getting a new camera is probably the cause of that), and would love some support and feedback on my progress. I know it's not exactly a unique idea, but a good friend of mine (shout-out to Jessica over at http://littlemapleleaf.blogspot.ca/ !) has taken on the same interest... and I guess I just want a place to share what I've been doing. I'm on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn, but I want this to be something different than just "social media" and statuses - this is about what I've actually been doing.

I have a Canon Rebel T3i. I'm trying to re-learn Photoshop as well... so any tips will be greatly appreciated!!

Here's a couple of the first photos I took. These ones are un-edited.

I'll be posting more later. These are just a random few from the first couple of weeks I had the camera. Feel free to share your thoughts! Here's to the start of something good.
