Trip to Maui

Last week, the hubby and I got back from a "second honeymoon/first anniversary/just because we wanted to" trip to Maui. I cannot get over how stunningly beautiful the island is. Hawaii had been on our "to-do" list for quite some time, so we were pretty excited for this one.

We stayed at Outrigger Napili Shores in Napili Bay. It's a condo company, and our little room had everything we needed, including a full kitchen. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're considering a trip! They have condos in many different places, not just Maui.

The trip was fantastic... but there was a big downfall. I ended up getting sick our first full day there (and we were only there for four days!) and had no energy and no appetite, so I couldn't go for a surfing lesson and we had to cancel the luau. So that meant a lot of wandering around the beach, going into Lahaina to check out the aquarium, and lounging by the pool. Oh, and hanging with the sea turtles at the resort, on World Turtle Day!!! Not the worst trip ever.

Now, onto the pictures. We only took close to 400, so these ones are just a few of my favourites! Enjoy! If you have any memories of Maui, please share them. I'd love to hear!

Colours of the Wind

Well, colours of the season actually.
I think it's safe to say it's (finally) spring here in the GTA! It's been a bit of a tease on and off for the past few weeks, but the photos you're about to see prove that it's official.

And I couldn't be happier! It's felt like such a long, long winter, and I've been in a bit of a (major) slump lately. Spring brings new life, and I'm going to use this as a sign that it's time to revive my spirits a little bit, soak up some sun, and just be happy.

Here's a few photos I took today and couldn't wait to share. Enjoy :)

Animals

Just a few photos of some animals I found while walking around a lake in Mississauga, near a friend's place.

Food!

I have some new photos coming soon... really I do!
But until then, here are some pictures of food I've taken over the past few months. Keep in mind, these were taken with my iPhone, so not necessarily the best photos ever. But still mouth-watering! And let's be honest... who doesn't love looking and drool-worthy recipes?!

I must confess, I didn't make this. East Side Mario's salad!

This smoothie wasn't fully blended yet, but I loved the way it looked.

Homemade jalapeno popper chicken with roasted potatoes, and a salad with homemade dressing.

Strawberry-chocolate chip waffle.

Apple cinnamon tea from Tim Horton's.

Breakfast a few weeks ago. Homemade french toast, plated nicely.

It looks like a bit of a mess, but oh-so-good: vegetarian Mexican taco bake.

Hope you're hungry!
More to come soon.

You're Cold as Ice....

No idea what these things are, but I thought they were really neat.

I took these pictures a few weeks ago, then kind of forgot about them. Toronto definitely doesn't look like this today, but I really liked the pictures, so here they are finally! These are again taken along a path not far from where I live.

Graffiti

I was out for a walk last week shooting some nature photos, and came across a couple of interesting sections of graffiti. They intrigued me because they were so different than the branches and water I was snapping pictures of. It's just a couple of photos, but I like them.

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow...

I know I said it was a pretty dull day, but while I was out with my camera earlier, the sun played a little peek-a-boo with the clouds. I managed to snap a couple solar flare-type shots that I really enjoy. Let me know what you think!

I really loved the detail of catching the spider web on this one.

Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head....

It was a dull, dreary, rainy day here in Toronto (in January? I'll take it!), which oddly enough left me feeling inspired. I grabbed my camera and went for a walk through a path not far where I live, and came up with some images I actually really enjoy. I just downloaded a trial version of Adobe Lightroom. So far I'm not too crazy over it, but I'm hoping it will grow on me. On that note, I'll leave you with some of the pictures I thought were pretty.

Casa Loma

I'm absolutely in love with this building. I know it doesn't even begin to rival a real castle, but for Toronto it's pretty fantastic!

Here's a few (again unedited) pictures of Casa Loma from a few days ago.
